BSP’s Mahesh to switch sides?
Bengaluru: In what could further deplete the numbers of the ruling coalition, the lone Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA N. Mahesh on whom the Congress and JD (S) were counting for support, has approached party supremo, Mayawati and reportedly got the nod to go against the coalition during the trust vote.
Sources in the BJP said that Mr Mahesh may either abstain or vote against the confidence motion when it is moved by Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy Thursday morning. This could prove to be a shot in the arm for the BJP which already has the support of 105 of its MLAs and two Independents while the coalition has 101 MLAs including the Speaker.
Since the nominated member can also vote, the total strength of the House stands at 225, the Speaker's office clarified.
