Wheelchair-bound man goes missing at KIA, search on

Few days ago Richpal injured and fractured his leg while at work.

Bengaluru: The Kempegowda International Airport police went into tizzy after a 40-year-old man went missing from the Airport Departure Gate on last Tuesday morning.

According to the police, Richpal, a native of Bhojpur in Rajasthan, was working as a labourer in a tiles factory in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

Few days ago Richpal injured and fractured his leg while at work. He was advised bed rest following which he wanted to return to his home town.

Since he could not travel in train, his relative Mukesh Kumar had booked a flight ticket from Indigo Airlines to Jaipur.

On Tuesday Mukesh Kumar brought Richpal to KIA and dropped him in a wheelchair at Depature gate number 1. After confirming that he went inside the airport, Mukesh Kumar informed Richpal’s family to pick him up from Jaipur airport and left to Chittoor.

Later Richpal’s family called Mukesh stating that they could not find him at the airport. Mukesh came back to the KIA and enquired.

Since, he could not get a satisfactory reply, he approached the police and filed a missing complaint on Saturday.

The Airport police checked with the security staff and verified the CCTV to find Richpal came out of the arrival gate on wheelchair. However the police did not find where he went and even there were no CCTV images to show his presence, a senior police officer said.

The police are also checking with the parking areas and the security officials outside the airport about Richpal.
