TRS MPs to meet PM, press for delimitation

Paperwork done, political decision remains: Jitender

Hyderabad: TRS MPs will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the monsoon session of Parliament that starts Monday and try to exert pressure on him to take a favourable political decision on the long pending issues of delimitation of Assembly constituencies in both TS and AP and bifurcation of the High Court.

Leader of TRS Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha and Mahbubnagar MP A.P. Jitender Reddy told DC that only a political decision is pending with the Prime Minister regarding increasing the number of Assembly seats in the two states as per AP Reorganisation Act. “We have information that the entire paperwork like preparing the draft Bill has been completed, Mr Reddy said.

He added: “Only a political decision is needed now which is pending. We will meet the Prime Minister some day during the session and remind him of his earlier promise in the matter.”

The TRS Parliamentary Party meeting will be held on Sunday night at Mr Reddy’s New Delhi residence where TRS leaders, after the mock polling for the Presidential election, will discuss the party’s strategy for the monsoon session.

Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar said, “Much depends on how Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and TD MPs pursue the matter with the PM during the session.”

During the TD Parliamentary Party meeting held recently in Amaravati, the TD president had asked the party MPs to exert pressure on the Centre to see that the delimitation Bill is introduced and passed in the monsoon session, besides raising other issues concerning AP.
