Siddaramaiah to contest his last' poll from Chamundeshwari?

People of that constituency are asking me to enter the fray from there: CM.

Mysuru: It’s not just about his last electoral battle, but Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday dropped enough hints about his return to Chamundeshwari constituency to contest next year’s polls to the Legislative Assembly.

The Chief Minister, who represents Varuna, which was carved following delimitation of constituencies in 2008, was nostalgic as he spoke about the possibility of contesting from Chamundeshwari in 2018.

“People of Chamundeshwari constituency have helped me win five times. So people from there are asking me to contest from that constituency. The next election will most likely be my last one. So there is an opinion that I should contest from the constituency that gave me political rebirth. I am yet to decide it,” he told the media here on Saturday.

Mr Siddaramaiah, who was first elected as an independent in 1983, remarked, “People of both Varuna and Chamundeswari constituencies are asking me to contest from their constituencies. People of both constituencies have affection for me. I will contest from wherever the high command wants me to.”

The Chief Minister said that the entry of his son Dr Yathindra into politics would be decided by the Congress high command. Addressing a gathering later in Mysuru, the Chief Minister said that he would spend his retired life in the city of palaces.

CM walks down memory lane
In another episode of a walk down memory lane for Mr Siddaramaiah, the CM met Muniyamma, an artiste who had performed in a play during his childhood. At a programme to distribute title deeds of houses built for migrants in Shydanahalli, Mr Siddaramaiah said such migrants had once performed “Sathyavahana” drama in his village Siddaramanahundi when he was a boy. One of them, Muniyamma, who had performed in that play, was later escorted onto the dais. The CM felicitated her and presented Rs 500. Minister H C Mahadevappa too gave Rs 1,000 to Muniyamma.
