Osmania University launches career centre

The MCC was opened at the campus to curb rising protests by students in regards to unemployment.

Hyderabad: Minister of State for Labour and employment, Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday launched a Model Career Centre (MCC) at the Osmania University.

The MCC was opened at the campus to curb rising protests by students in regards to unemployment. The minister also declared that two new MCCs will be set up in the state at Karminagar and Bhadadri-Kothagudam.

The government introduced the concept of MCCs to provide assistance to unemployed youth and help them avail jobs anywhere in the country.

“The university has an employment information bureau and students can use the help of the employment exchange. MCC will enhance the opportunities for aspirants said the Prof. D. Balaramulu, the centre director,

Vice chancellor of the university, Prof. S. Ramachandram said that there is a need to introduce skill development centres to help students improve their job marketability.

“Our focus is to expand the ITI’s across the state so that industries can offer employment to students who complete these courses. There must be stress on apprenticeship to improve hands on training of students,” said the Central Minister, adding that funds will be released for the same by the government.
