Land Act norms challenged in Hyderabad High Court
Hyderabad: The Telangana Agriculture Labour Association has moved the Hyderabad High Court challenging the new guidelines brought out by the state government under the Land Acquisition Act 2016 by amending the Centre’s Land Acquisition Act, 2013.
In its plea, the Association, represented by its general secretary R. Venkata Ramulu, pointed out that the government has failed to place its order and the gazette notification on the website, but issued GO 92 dated May 31, 2017 relating to draft guidelines.
He told the court that the said GO appeared on the government website on July 10 and another GO (No 120) related to the final guidelines was also placed on the website on July 10.
Mr Ramulu alleged that the government failed to maintain transparency on the issue. He contended that as per law, draft guidelines first have to be made available for the people and their opinion or objections taken after giving sufficient time. Here, the government acted contrary to the procedure and issued the final notification, he said.
Mr Ramulu urged the court to stay the final notification issued with regard to new guidelines for land acquisition in the state.
