India emerges tourism market for Netherlands
Chennai: Chennai or Madras’ connection with the Dutch is the Pulicat or Pazhaverkadu, a shore town in Tiruvallur district near Chennai. As a tourist destination, Pulicat, the headquarters of the Dutch Coromandel at about 1616, receives few visitors from the Netherlands, but that country has seen an increase in Indian arrivals in the first quarter of 2017.
The Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions (NBTC) has announced an increase in Indian arrivals to the Netherlands in the first quarter of 2017. In comparison with the last year’s first quarter, Indian arrival figures, the country recorded a growth of over 19% in Indian arrivals to Holland from January to March this year, proving that India is one of the top growing markets for the destination.
“Indian market continues to be one of the important contributors of international visitors to Holland. Last year, Holland came much closer to the millions of Indian travellers with Jet Airways launching daily non-stop flights from India to Holland. Business missions in 2016 have also increased the graph of Indian arrivals to Holland,” says SanJeet, India Representative, NBTC.
“With our consolidated efforts in shaping Holland as a perfect getaway destination for Indian travellers, we are hopeful of achieving a double-digit growth,” SanJeet added. According to sources, spring is the most popular period to visit Holland for Indians, though many Indians are found in Holland during summer.
Six out of ten Indian citizens visit the main Dutch cities during their stay in Holland and Amsterdam is the most popular city hosting 46 per cent of the Indian guests. Almost all Indian visitors stay in hotel, as per NBTC Holland Marketing report.
