2,500 speed violations on ORR daily
Hyderabad: Motorists are not bothering to take their foot off the pedal on ORR (Outer Ring Road) despite government decision to lower maximum speed limit from 120 kmph to 100 kmph.
On an average police detect nearly 2,500 speed violations everyday along Cyberabad limits of the ORR. According to traffic DCP A.R Srinivas, the number is touching 3,000 on some days and on other days it is 2,000 or more.
E-challans will be issued to concerned vehicle numbers and they have to pay the fine later.
Officials said majority of these violations are by people driving cars and SUVs at speed higher than the prescribed limit.
Everyday nearly 70,000 vehicles ply on different stretches of the ORR. The traffic DCP said that majority of motorists are following the rule while some are breaking it if the everyday count of number of vehicles plying on ORR is considered.
