Hyderabad: Based on a report in these columns on Friday about the parents of an 11-year-old girl, Harshita, approaching the SHRC for permission for euthanasia for their daughter who is suffering from end stage liver disease, an NGO came forward to offer them support. Health minister Dr Laxma Reddy has also offered free treatment for the girl.
Mr Mujtaba Hasan Askari of Helping Hand moved a petition with the SHRC stating that it would take responsibility for supporting the child and the family financially. When Harshita’s father N. Ramchandra Reddy was called to the SHRC office, it came to notice that Dr Laxma Reddy had offered her free treatment under Aarogyasri.
