N Chandrababu Naidu seeks Vizag railway zone

Vijayawada-Howrah Humsafar weekly express, 10 other projects launched.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu requested the Union government to consider the request of AP government to announce separate railway zone at Visakhapatnam.

He, along with Union ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Suresh Prabhu flagged off Vijayawada-Howrah Humsafar weekly express and 10 other railway projects through remote at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here on Thursday.

He requested the railway minister to arrange high-speed railway system passing through the state connecting Amaravati. Mr Naidu requested Mr Prabhu to improve railway connectivity to remote areas and expressed willingness to allocate land for the railways in the capital region to arrange Training Academy of Railway Protection Force.

Mr Suresh Prabhu said that Indian Railways is playing a key role in supporting Andhra Pradesh. The Railways had focused to improve and update infrastructure facilities in the state and Vijayawada will be a logistics hub inthe coming future, said Mr Prabhu.

He said that the Indian Railways is taking support of Germany in arranging high-speed railway lines. He said that the Railway Claims Tribunal will soon start functioning from Amaravati.

Union minister for urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu said that starting 10 projects on one day is a record and this shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’ s commitment towards Andhra Pradesh. He said that the Union government, under leadership of Mr Naren-dra Modi is heading in a clean and unbiased way without giving any scope for corruption.

He said that projects worth Rs 41,000 crore funded by the Union government were under progress in the state and the state is progressing ahead in growth than the nation’s aggregate. Mr Venkaiah Naidu appreciated the Chief Minister for land allocations to the projects.

Tirupati-Jammu Tawi Superfast Humsafar Express, Kadapa- Pendlimarri DEMU train, three-phase electric locomotive simulator at Electric Traction Training Centre at Vijayawada, 2.5 Tonne mechanised laundry at Tirupati and others were launched on the occasion.

Foundation stone for doubling of Gooty and Dharmavaram railway line with an estimate cost of Rs 636.38 crore was laid by the minister on the occasion.
