Chennai: 3-year-old killed in road mishap

Her parents, Prabhu and Poongodi reside at Dharmapuri and had left the child at the grandmother's residence in Chennai for a few weeks.

Chennai: A three-year-old child was killed in a road accident when the bike she was travelling on got knocked over by a private college bus near Avadi on Thurs day morning. The girl, P. Vinisha, was staying at her grandmother’s house on VOC Street, Nandavana Mettur in Avadi, police said.

Her parents, Prabhu and Poongodi reside at Dharmapuri and had left the child at the grandmother’s residence in Chennai for a few weeks. On Thursday morning, around 7 30 am, the child’s uncle, Chinna Samy, took the girl on a motorcycle for a ride when they met with the accident. They were riding towards Nehru Bazaar when a private college bus trailing their motorcycle hit them. The bus was going towards Poonamallee from Avadi, police said.

The man and the child were thrown on to the ground. While the man fell to the left, the girl fell to her right coming right under the wheels of the vehicle. Passers-by rushed to the aid of the two and moved them to a hospital nearby where the child was declared brought dead. The man is undergoing treatment, police said.
