Warrant out for Congress MLA Vijayadharani

Kanyakumari district sessions court, admitting the petition, summoned the Congress MLA to appear for the hearing on June 15, 2016 (Wednesday).

Kanyakumari: The Kanyakumari district sessions court on Wednesday issued arrest warrant against the Vilavancode Congress MLA, S. Vijayadharani as she failed to appear before it for a hearing in a defamation petition filed against her.

Complaining that she spoke ill of the Tamil Nadu chief minister, J. Jayalalithaa, in a public meeting followed by an anti-liquor agitation on September 25, 2015 at Karungal in Kanyakumari district, the public pleader, Gnanasekar filed a defamation case against the MLA on March 2, five months after the incident.

The Kanyakumari district sessions court, admitting the petition, summoned the Congress MLA to appear for the hearing on June 15, 2016 (Wednesday). She, however, failed to appear before the court and neither did she give reason for her inability to attend the court hearing on Wednesday through her advocate. Hence the district sessions court issued an arrest warrant against the Congress MLA.
