MVD drive to curb teenage traffic violation in Kozhikode

The MVD will hold meetings with parents and teachers associations in various schools to ensure that their children do not violate rules.

Kozhikode: There was a spate of accidents involving teenagers at the wheels during the vacation in the district and, considering its seriousness, the motor vehicle department (MVD) has decided to inform their parents and take strict action against owners.

The MVD will hold meetings with parents and teachers associations in various schools to ensure that their children do not violate MVD rules. With the support of the schools, the MVD has directed officials to check students frequently seen driving without the license and not to promote triples on their bikes.

"A strict instruction went from the transport commissioner to take action and seize two-wheelers carrying more than one pillion rider," said Yusuf N., an MVD official.

"In recent past, we have taken action against more than 30 such two wheelers, mostly used by youngsters at night. Hence, MVD has decided to conduct constant checks to curb such incidents often leading to accidents, especially during monsoon."
