KT Rama Rao flays Centre for not helping
Hyderabad: IT minister K.T. Rama Rao criticised the Centre for not helping Telangana develop its IT sector.
The minister said the state government had sought about Rs 7,000 crore from the Centre for the development of the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR).
“But the Centre has sanctioned only '65 crore. What will we do? The Telangana government will continue developing the IT sector — not just in Hyderabad but in surrounding regions as well. We will reach our goal to provide 10 lakh jobs by 2019 in the IT sector,” he said.
The Minister also said that the Centre had no clarity on the implementation of ITIR projects. “The Centre is confused as to how to go about the project, that was announced five years ago,” he said.
Mr. Rao added that if technology did not reach the common man, there was no use for it. “We have launched 100 e-panchayats (One-Stop-Shops citizen centres) and the number will be increased to 500 soon. We have integrated nine departments with the IT department to extend services of e-Governance and m-Governance,” he said.
