Hyderabad: Six peddlers held with 138 kg ganja

A deal was struck and the ganja was brought to the city from Vishakhapatnam in a car by the young men early Wednesday morning.

Hyderabad: Two youngsters from Nalgonda and four persons from Hyderabad have been arrested by the Rajendranagar police for smuggling ganja from Vishakhapatnam to Hyderabad on Wednesday. The police seized around 138 kg of ganja, Rs 1.5 lakh cash, a car and two bikes from the arrested persons.

According to the Cyberabad police, two men in their early 20s from Narkatpally in Nalgonda district went to Vishakhapatnam where they purchased ganja in the agency area. They had developed contacts with drug peddlers living in Dhoolpet, and contacted them for a sale.

A deal was struck and the ganja was brought to the city from Vishakhapatnam in a car by the young men early Wednesday morning. Awaiting them at Aramghar Crossroads on two bikes, were two men and two women — residents of Dhoolpet who were there to collect the contraband.

According to a police officer from Cyberabad, as the ganja was being handed over, the Rajendranagar police who had been tipped off about the deal, swung into action and caught all six persons.

Around 138 kg of ganja, a car, Rs 1.5 lakh cash and two bikes have been seized from the accused.
