Hyderabad: Russian dies from sunstroke

Alexander, a native of Russia, had come to the city only a few days ago, while his friend stayed back in Goa.

Hyderabad: A 38-year-old Russian national who came to India on a tourist visa died of a heat stroke on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Alexander, who was engaged to act in Chiranjeevi-starrer Sye Raa, a fact that came to light after some pictures of the film shoot were found in his digital camera, said Gachibowli police on Wednesday.

Alexander, a native of Russia, had come to the city only a few days ago, while his friend stayed back in Goa.

According to the Gachibowli police, they received information on Tuesday at noon that a foreign national had collapsed near Gate no 1 of DLF building located in Gachibowli.

A police team rushed to the spot and immediately shifted him to Kondapur Government Area Hospital for treatment and on the suggestion of the doctors there, he was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital.

Alexander, however, died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital the same night.

The Gachibowli police could not find any of documents related to his identity initially, but later, they checked the digital camera which Alexander was carrying and found some pictures of him taking part in the film shooting and then gathered his details. A case has been registered by the police under section 174 of CrPC for the investigation.

The cops said that the foreign national appeared to have roamed in the heat for a long time and suffered the heat stroke.
