Hyderabad: 4 dealing in Alprazolam held
Hyderabad: Four persons from the city who were involved in drug trafficking have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau from Medchal.
The NCB sleuths seized 10 kg of Alprazolam from the traffickers and remanded them to the judicial custody on Wednesday.
According to the NCB, it had received specific information about a drug deal at Dullapally village in Quthbullapur under Pet Basheerabad police station limits and conducted an operation on Monday.
A team of sleuths from NCB, Hyderabad (sub-zone), rushed to an isolated place at Dullapally on Monday evening and found that the drug stopped the deal midway.
Police said that two persons there were found to be sellers while the other two came to collect the drug, which was in powder form.
The officials took them into custody and after conducting a chemical test, they confirmed the powder to be Alprazolam, a narcotic drug as per the NDPS Act. The drug weighing about 10 kg was seized from the possession of the accused by the sleuths.
A police official from Cyberabad told this newspaper that “The NCB had a tip about the drug deal between the accused. It was not a manufacturing unit, but the accused reached the secluded spot to complete their deal. They have been taken into custody by the sleuths of NCB.”
Earlier in January this year, the sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have also seized 40 kg of Alprazolam worth Rs 2.4 crore that was being transported from Gujarat to Hyderabad in a car at Kamareddy.
