TS scheme will show way to nation: K Chandrasekhar Rao
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that the insurance scheme for farmers that he proposes to launch in the state will show the way for the farming community in the country.
Mr Rao asked the principal secretaries for finance and agriculture to have detailed discussions with officers of the Life Insurance Corporation to fix the rate and finalising other modalities.
Mr Rao was speaking at a review meeting in Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday on the scheme. He held detailed discussions on the proposals, including the Centre’s scheme in which the farmer pays a part of the premium.
The Chief Minister expressed the view that the state government should go on its own in implementing the scheme free of cost to the farmer. He said that in undivided AP, the farming community in Telangana faced a lot of distress. Hence, the TRS after coming to power had initiated several measures benefitting the farmers.
He said that only the Telan-gana state government could understand the problems of the farmer and other groups; the past undivided AP governments had no understanding of their issues.
The CM further said that the trauma of the farming community should be addressed firmly, and they should be brought out of the trauma by implementing a variety of schemes like the investment support scheme, insurance scheme and others.
Mr Rao said whatever might be the reason for the death of a farmer, the family should immediately get insurance of '5 lakh. Any help that the government intends to do for the farmer will be done wholeheartedly, he said.
Mr Rao said that whether the farmer was small, marginal or big, the benefit of Insurance would be the same and it will be a group insurance scheme. The Chief Minister said that the premium would be included in budget, and payment would be assured.
