Coimbatore: The Coimbatore police have taken a 39-year-old private school correspondent to custody, who is alleged to be a close associate of notorious criminal ‘Rocket’ Raja who was recently arrested in Chennai.
Police said Sundhar, 39, native of Pallayankottai in Tirunelveli district, owns a private school in Dindigul.
Nearly three years ago Sundhar had received Rs. 51 lakh from a known couple residing near RS Puram in Coimbatore on the assurance of ‘doubling’ their money in a short span of time, police said, adding, however he did not return the money.
On receiving a complaint from the couple during 2016, the city crime branch police launched a search for Sundar.
Meanwhile, the notorious criminal ‘Rocket’ Raja was arrested in Chennai recently along with his associates and Sundhar was among the accused, sources said.
On receiving information from the Chennai Police, a team from here rushed to Chennai and brought Sundar to Coimbatore, who was made to appear in the court and taken for five days police custody for further investigation.
