Karnataka Assembly results a setback to Telangana Congress

Telangana BJP president K Laxaman said that the BJP will come to power in Telangana also in the next assembly elections.

Hyderabad: The defeat of the Congress in the Karnataka Assembly elections is a setback to the Telangana Congress, which is hoping to come to power in the ensuing Assembly elections in TS. At the same time, it will boost the morale of the BJP in Telangana. As for the Telanagana Rashtra Samiti, it feels that if the BJP gets stronger in Telangana, the anti-government vote will split, which will help the TRS retain power.

After its Bus Yatra, the Congress had perked up and the party cadre was being activated. Telangana Congress leaders believe there is much dissatisfaction with the TRS government which will help it come to power. The Karnataka results have poured cold water on those hopes.

Telangana Congress Legislature party deputy leader and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, admits that the Karnataka Assembly results will have some impact on the party in Telan-gana come election time. But he told this newspaper that “if Telangana Congress leaders from TPCC president to village-level worker go agg-ressively against the TRS government, they will overcome the impact of the Karnataka Assembly results.”

A senior Congress lea-der commented that pa-rty leaders are thinking that the party will win in the next Assembly elections even if they sit in the house. but they are not thinking about the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s manipulative politics.

He said that Mr Rao will definitely take advantage of the Karnataka assembly results in his favour.??

Results slap on Modi: Ponnala

Former Congress minister Ponnala Laxmaiah said the outcome of the Karnataka Assembly elections were a “slap” on Prime Min-ister Narendra Modi’s dictatorial rule and Ch-ief Minister K. Chan-drasekhar Rao’s effort to form a third front.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, Mr Laxmaiah said no Prime Minister had campaigned so hard for a state Assembly election as Mr Modi had done.
