Monitor biometric attendance of faculty: JNTUH Staff
Hyderabad: A proper monitoring of biometric attendance by JNTUH could deter colleges from resorting to retrenchment of faculty, said teaching staff.
“If the university officials monitor attendance records strictly, they will get an idea about how the colleges are trying to manipulate attendance records by showing us to be absent, relieved and under leave,” said a teaching staff, who claimed to have been sacked by his college management.
JNTU-Hyderabad had introduced the biometric attendance system for students as well as the faculty members a few months ago. In April, JNTUH has also sent e-mails to PhD professors, working in its affiliated engineering and pharmacy colleges, seeking a written explanation for having an attendance record of less than 75 per cent in March.
Reacting to these allegations, JNTUH vice-chancellor Venugopal Reddy said, “We are strictly monitoring the attendance records of the teaching staff.
