Faculty blames college bosses of sacking them in Hyderabad

JNTUH vice-chancellor Venugopal Reddy said that he has not received any such complaints by any faculty members.

Hyderabad: A section of teaching staff from Hyderabad-based engineering colleges has accused college managements of sacking them after securing affiliation from JNTUH.

“My college management has sacked me without any notice. And it was not just me; two persons from each department have been fired in our college. Several teaching staff belonging engineering colleges are suffering because of this sudden decision. I request the JNTUH administration to look into the matter and resolve our problems,’’ said an assistant professor from a JNTUH-affiliated engineering college in the city, on the condition of anonymity.

Another assistant professor, who refused to be quoted by his name, said, “We have required qualification to work as a faculty member in an engineering college, but we don’t know why we have been sacked by managements. We have families, which depend on us. The situation is grave for us as nobody would hire new faculty till the next academic year starts.’’

To make matters for them, the teaching staff alleged that college managements are showing them as absent or under leave in biometric attendance.

A spokesperson of the Telangana Engineering and Professional Colleges Management Association, however, denies the charges.“Why will colleges sack faculty when they need them the most? I think faculty members must be changing jobs as it is the start of a new academic year. They must be giving false complaint about the retrenchment.”

JNTUH vice-chancellor Venugopal Reddy said that he has not received any such complaints by any faculty members, but he promised to look into the matter.
