EoDB top spot helped Telangana and AP to attract investment
Hyderabad: Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh have jointly secured the first spot in the country in latest EoDB rankings declared by the Centre for 2016-17, which helped both states attract more investment proposals.
Both states improved their positions in DIPP rankings over previous years on the back of business-friendly and liberalised approval policies to set up industries. The first rank helped both states to find a place in the list of top-10 states attracting higher investments.
For March 2017, TS found place in the top 5 list while AP got the sixth spot. Both states are hopeful of finishing the in top 5 list for the calendar year 2017.
Industries departments in both states are leaving no stone unturned to retain the top slot in EoDB rankings for 2017-18, to be announced during August-September..
Chief Secretary S.P. Singh has already held meetings twice with officials of departments linked with industry approvals and alerted them on EoDB rankings.
"After TS jumped from 13th rank to 1st rank in EoDB rankings, investments have more than doubled. Rankings released by the Centre and World Bank after thoroughly screening the business reforms being implemented at ground-level definitely help attract investments. These rankings serve as an indicator for potential investors across the globe to choose investment destinations. We are trying to retain the top slot this year also," an industries official said.
Chief Secretary S.P.Singh has already held meetings twice with officials of departments linked with industry approvals and alerted them on EoDB rankings.
The CS said this year EoDB rankings will be more stringent as special teams are being deployed to verify ground-level implementation of business reforms along with seeking feedback from all stakeholders concerned. Earlier rankings were based on information provided by state governments.
