Demand for re-probe into Jishnu suicide
Thrissur: Save Education Committee, an activist group working for the rights of students, has demanded a re-probe into the Jishnu Prannoy suicide case.
SEC state secretary Shajar Khan alleged the report from the government forensic lab in Thiruvananthapuram that the DNA test could not be done using the blood stains recovered from the "torture room" of Nehru College Pampady was a part of a conspiracy to sabotage the case.
“Police and the state government are trying to tamper with all pieces of evidence in the case,” alleged the SUCI leader who had to spend six days in prison after the police detaining him near the police headquarters while accompanying parents and relatives of Pranoy last month.
He claimed that the white blood cells (WBC) would also be present in large numbers in blood stains from which DNA could be identified.
“Even DNA test is conducted from stains that were recovered after several years and so the same blood stains recovered from the ‘torture’ room need to be sent to Central Forensic Laboratory for testing,” he added.
SEC members said the recent decision to ‘unify’ the PG medical fee had ended up in a hike in the merit seat cost by 230 percent.
