83.37 per cent students pass Plus Two exams in Kerala

In the technical stream, 1,826 candidates took the higher secondary exam, March 2017, from 15 schools.

Thiruvananthapuram: The pass percentage of the Plus Two exams this year was more than two percent higher. When the results were announced on Monday, 83.37 percent of students have passed the exams, up from last year’s 80.94 percent.

Education minister C. Raveendranath said a total of 3,05,262 students had attained the eligibility for higher education when 3,66,139 regular students from 2,064 schools took the exams.

Eligibility for higher studies is a D+ or above grade for all subjects with 30 percent scores in theory alone and an aggregate total of 30 percent in theory practical and continuous evaluations taken together.

A double valuation was done for the answer scripts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The tabulations of all subjects were done online.

One of the highlights of the results this year was that results of none of the students were withheld.

Among the districts, Kannur with 87.22 percent tops the list while Pathanamthitta is at the bottom with 77.65 percent. Ernakulam tops the list with 1261 candidates scoring A+ grade in all subjects.

Among the schools, SVHSS Palemad, Malappuram, presented the.....highest number of candidates of 738 students and came out with a pass percentage of 80.30 followed by St. Mary’s HSS Pattom, here, with 703 candidates and a pass rate of 94.16, and MSM HSS Kallingalparamba, Malappuram, with 689 candidates and 86.5 percent passing out.

In the vocational higher secondary sector, the pass percentage for the three parts put together was 81.5 and for Part I and II 86.79.

In the technical stream, 1,826 candidates took the higher secondary exam, March 2017, from 15 schools. Of them, 1444 candidates became eligible for higher studies, the pass percentage being 79.08.

In the art stream exams held at the Kalamandalam Art School, 79 students appeared for the higher secondary examination and 68 qualified for higher studies.

The pass percentage is 86.08. As many as 69,600 candidates appeared for the higher secondary streams through State Council for Open and Life Long Education (SCOLE) and 22,193 qualified for higher studies, with a pass percent of 31.89.

Out of 7,632 candidates in old scheme category, 3,735 qualified with a pass percentage of 48.94.
