Five go missing as boat capsizes in West Bengal

The boat was carrying over 50 people, who were returning from a fair at Kalna in Burdwan.

Burdwan (WB): Five persons went missing on Sunday after a boat capsized in the river Bhagirathi in Burdwan district, following which a mob set afire several boats in Nadia district on the other side of the river with the police using rubber bullets to control the situation.

The boat was carrying over 50 people, who were returning from a fair at Kalna in Burdwan. While many people swam to safety, five persons, including two to three children went missing. Alleging delay in initiating the rescue operation, people from Shantipur set afire boats.
