High temperatures in Adilabad region, streets wear deserted look

Adilabad: A high temperature of 44.8 degree Celsius was recorded in Dasthurabad in Nirmal district of the Adilabad region on Sunday. People remained mostly indoors.

A temperature of 44.7 degree Celsius was recorded in Jambuga in Komaram Bheem district, 43.6 in Adilabad town and 43.4 in Kondapur village in Mancherial district.

The main thoroughfares wore a deserted look in the afternoon hours. Children and the elderly are affected more by the high temperatures and several of them fell sick. People coming out in the morning get back to their homes before 11am and stir out in the late evening hours.

A sudden rise in temperatures to unbearable levels in the last four days upset normal life. The temperatures around 40 degree C may rise further in the coming 15 days, the weather office said.

Doctors advised the people to drink water at regular intervals to avoid dehydration. Some people have fainted while coming out of homes in the afternoon without covering their heads. Laborers doing work under NREGS are also affected by the high temperatures. There is neither the provision for tents nor drinking water for these workers.
