BRS Atmeeya Sammelan stage collapses, minor injuries to Gangula

Warangal: The stage put up at a BRS Atmeeya Sammelan in Cherla Bhatkur village of Karimnagar district collapsed due to overloading on Sunday. A few persons, including backward classes welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar, sustained minor injuries.

The Atmeeya Sammelan had been going on smoothly with key leaders, including Kamalakar, sitting on the dais. However, when some more local leaders got on to the stage, it collapsed all of a sudden.

Addressing a press conference later, the minister objected to BJP leaders commenting against Yagams being performed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He pointed out that in the past when Gods performed Yagams, “monsters” disturbed them. In the same manner, when KCR is undertaking the Yagam of welfare schemes, BJP leaders are trying to create disturbances in Telangana, he said.

Kamalakar asked farmers not to believe in the BJP. He pointed out that Telangana is the only state in the country to provide minimum support price for food grains cultivated during both seasons of the year. He underlined that the state government has opened around 7,100 procurement centres across the state and is purchasing every grain produced by the farmers.

District collector R.V. Karnan, Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Sardar Ravinder Singh and additional collector Shyam Prasad Lal were among those present.
