Bengaluru: In the wake of the extension of nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus, the Minority Welfare, Waqf and Hajj Department of Karnataka have together issued a guideline for observing the holy month of Ramzan, prohibiting public gathering throughout the month.
The restriction includes the prohibition to use public addressing systems for Namaz, organising Iftar, prohibiting preparation and distribution of Ramzan porridge.
In a circular issued on Thursday afternoon, the government has quoted the guidelines of Government of India and stated that no one will be allowed to perform five times congregational prayers, including Jumma and Taraweeh prayers in the Masajid.
The staff of Masjid are prohibited from using public address systems even for Namaz, including Jumma and Taraweeh. Azan could be given at low decibel through public address systems.
The Muazzan or Imam of the Masjid make announcements regarding the end of Sahri and beginning of Iftar usually during the month of Ramadan.
The government has also directed the management of Waqf Institutions to follow the orders and ensure that no porridge is prepared in Masjid premises and no eateries are set up around Masjids and Dargas.
