Vijayawada: Chaitra Masa Brahmotsavams rituals at durga temple

Mangala Snanam was performed to the deities and it was a visual treat to the devotees.

Vijayawada: The Chaitra Masa Brahmotsavams of Sri Ganga Parvati (Durga) Sameta Malleswara Swamy began atop Indrakeeladri here on Monday.

Devotees reached the temple in a large number in the wee hours to take part in the Kalyanam rituals.

Mangala Snanam was performed to the deities and it was a visual treat to the devotees.

Earlier, a large number of women witnessed the preparation of turmeric for the Mangala Snanam, while some even took part in it.

Sri Vigneswara Puja, Agni Prathishtapana, Akhanda Deepa Sthapana, Kalasaradhana, Baliharana were among the rituals performed at the temple.

Earlier, the temple executive officer V. Koteswaramma had announced that the Chaitramasa Brahmotsavams would be performed till April 22.

On the second day (April 16) of the Brahmotsavams, Mula Mantra Havanam will be performed at 8 am and Oupasana, Baliharana, Harathi and Mantra Pushpam would be done between 4 pm and 6.30 pm, Ms Koteswaramma had said.

Prasadam would also be distributed to the devotees, the temple executive officer said.
