Telangana Election Commissioner to issue election notice before April 20

Hyderabad: Telangana Election Commissioner V. Nagireddy said that the notification for the zilla and mandal parishad polls will be issued between April 18 and 20.

Mr Nagireddy on Monday met with Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, DGP M. Mahendar Reddy on the preparedness of the administration. After the meeting, Mr Nagireddy told mediapersons that he would meet collectors and SPs on April 18 and issue the election notification after that.

He said the voters lists with 1.57 crore names and list of polling centres had been given to all parties. Voters can enrol their names till the notification is issued. Mr Nagireddy said that they had sought additional police forces from Karnataka and Maharashtra, where the LS elections would have concluded by then.

The polling centres would be set up on April 18. Arrangements were being made for printing of ballot papers and polling staff had been appointed. He said every mandal had one zilla parishad territorial committee, and would have a returning officer. There would be a returning for every three MPTCs. The dates would be decided after discussions. 15 days is enough to conduct the polls.
