Hyderabad: BJP urges EC to stop local body polls

Demanding that the parishad polls be postponed till the results of the Lok Sabha polls are declared.

Hyderabad: Along with the All India Backward classes and former MLA R. Krishnaiah, the state unit of the BJP on Monday opposed the holding of local body elections in the Telangana State.

Demanding that the parishad polls be postponed till the results of the Lok Sabha polls are declared, the BJP leaders submitted a memorandum to the governor E.S.L. Narasimham on Monday.

Meanwhile, both Telangana State BJP President K. Laxman and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya said that reducing the Backward Classes reservations by 11 per cent is against the Constitution and also doing injustice to the community.
