Bhadrachalam: The Sri Rama Pattabhishekam, unique ceremony performed to Lord Ramachandra Swamy, was witnessed by thousands of devotees at the Rama temple in Bhadrachalam on Monday.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and his wife took part in the coronation ceremony performed with royal honours. Mr Narasimhan also carried the palanquin brought for the Pattabhishekam in a procession from the temple to the Mithila stadium. On the occasion, the priests narrated the importance of Pattabhishekam in Ramayana.


The Governor couple offered silk clothes to Lord Rama and Sita. The Mithila stadium came alive with religious activity on the second consecutive day on Monday.

The processional diety of Lord Rama was adorned with a bejewelled crown, Raja Mudrika, Raja Dandam and Chatram, as part of coronation ceremony. Rathostavam was conducted amid religious fervour.

KCR is violating temple traditions-MLA

Bhadrachalam MLA Podum Veeraiah said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is violating the temple traditions and conventions by skipping  Rama Navami celebrations in Bhadrachalam.

“Every Chief Minister in the undivided Andhra Pradesh took part in the Navami celebrations but Mr Chandrasekhar Rao  skipped it. He is not fulfilling his duty,”  the MLA said and added that the CM had also not fulfilled his promise to sanction `100 crore towards the development of the temple.
