Chennai: A day after DMK MLA C.V.M.P Ezhilarasan was booked for assaulting a police inspector in Kancheepuram, the DMK advocate wing on Monday filed a complaint against the inspector with the Election Commission.

Police said on Sunday morning, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam was in Kancheepuram as part of his election campaign.

When his vehicle was passing through Theradi Thidal in Vishnu Kanchi police station limits, the DMK candidate was campaigning there.

"Both had permission for campaigning. Since both parties came in the same route, none of them could proceed ahead. A few DMK functionaries including MLA Ezhilarasan, picked up a fight with the AIADMK men and the police, the video of which went viral on social media.
