Bengaluru: A constable attached to Jayanagar police station was suspended after his sharp reply to a notice served by the inspector for reporting to duty late went viral on social media sites.

The constable, Sridhar Gowda, was suspended by DCP Annamalai for bringing 'disrepute to the inspector'. Gowda along with four other constables was on night patrolling one day and reported late to the station the next day. The inspector served notices to all the five constables and demanded a written explanation.

Gowda on April 14 responded to the Inspector saying, "Like you, I do not have the luxury of eating breakfast in Sukhsagar, lunch in a Khanavali, dinner in Empire Hotel and ice-cream in Milano. I don't even have a room on the first floor of the station to rest. I have aged parents to look after, wife works in the police department and have two children. I have to take care of all household chores before coming to the station. If I had no responsibility, I would have come to the station at 8 am sharp every day."
