With her death, the number of student suicides because of poor Intermediate results have risen to nine this year.
Distraught over the delay in marriage, a man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Bhogapuram area in Vizianagaram district.
Hyderabad: Depressed after failing in one subject in the Intermediate Second year examination, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide at Miyapur. Pooja Sathar who had allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling at her home on Saturday morning, succumbed in the early hours of Sunday while being treated at a private hospital. With her death, the number of student suicides because of poor Intermediate results have risen to nine this year.
Of the nine suicides, seven have been of girls. Police said Pooja completed BiPC second year from a private college at Madinaguda and the results were declared on Saturday. When she realised she had failed in one subject, she hanged herself in her house while her mother was in the other room.
