Dalits slam ban against temple entry in Nalgonda
They were told to offer prayers from outside.
Hyderabad: Dalit families in Kondapuram village in Nalgonda district faced discrimination on the eve of Sri Rama Navami celebrated on Friday.
The temple committee, comprising BCs, barred them from entering the village temple to witness the wedding of Lord Rama and Sita. They were told to offer prayers from outside.
This discrimination drew the ire of district units of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) and Kula Vivaksha Porata Samithi (KVPS). “The decision taken on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar is deplorable. We demand officials to take stern action against authorities,” a member said.
