Solar case is CPM’s blackmail tactic: Deepthi Mary Varghese

The CPM is facing ideological poverty and fearing big defeat in the elections.

KOCHI: The All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) member Deepthi Mary Varghese alleged on Friday that the case of sexual abuse registered against the three Congress MLAs in solar scam is politically motivated and part of the CPM’s blackmail politics. While talking to media here, she said that the CPM-led government has no achievements to be highlighted for election campaign and is hence adopting such cheap tactics.

“The CPM is facing ideological poverty and fearing big defeat in the elections. Hence, it is using the solar scam and the victim who is inconsistent in her stand, as topic for poll campaign. The CPM should not forget that it has a history of winning polls by highlighting achievements of eminent party leaders,” she said.

The case, which the HC found lacking credibility was registered against the three MLAs who are possible list of candidates for Lok Sabha elections only because of the fear of defeat of the LDF.

“The voters will brush off such cheap blackmailing and false allegations,” added Ms. Varghese.
