Kerala disaster authority sounds sunstroke alert
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued sunstroke alert in five districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts on March 16. The maximum temperature is very likely to be two to three degrees Celsius above normal.
People have been advised not to get direct sunlight between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m and to take a small bottle of water along with them to avoid dehydration.
They have also been asked to take maximum water. Another instruction was to avoid tea and coffee during day time. The loose fitting clothes in light colour are preferred.
Teachers and parents are advised to take extra care as it was examination time for children.
Vacationing students should not go out from 11 a..m. to 3 p.m. Labour commissioner had issued revised of eight hours between 7 am to 7 pm with a break between 12 to 3 pm. The morning shift should come to an end at noon and afternoon shift should begin only at 3 p.m.
He instructed political activists to stay away from election campaign during this time.
