Court restrains Union from expelling Chinmayi Sripaada

On a petition from the award winning singer, the II Assistant Judge S.Murugesan has passed interim order and ordered notice to the union.

Chennai: A city Civil court in Chennai has restrained decision of South Indian Cine and Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union to remove singer and dubbing artiste Chinmayi Sripaada from the union.

On a petition from the award winning singer, the II Assistant Judge S.Murugesan has passed interim order and ordered notice to the union. The judge also directed president of the association to file reply before March 25.

Chinmayi said in November last year the association had taken decision due to non-payment of subscription fees for two years. She said she had paid life time membership fees in 2006. Her name was found in list of members in 2018.

Chinmayi, has sung several songs and dubbed for actors. The singer was also at the forefront of the #MeToo movement. She said she was removed without any intimation and her views were not heard. Hence, the removal was illegal.
