Chennai: Couple dies in LPG gas blast

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Riyaz, 33 a resident of Adamabakkam in Guduvanchery and an electrician.

Chennai: An LPG cylinder explosion in their house in Adambakkam, Guduvanchery early on Friday left a 33-year-old man and his wife dead, Sources said.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Riyaz, 33 a resident of Adamabakkam in Guduvanchery and an electrician.

He lived by his wife Tamilselvi, 34 and the couple had no children.

The incident happened on the early hours of Friday leaving Riyaz to die on the spot.

Hearing the cries, the Neighbours rushed Tamilselvi to a private Hospital where she was declared brought dead. Police have registered a case and sent the body to the Chengalpattu government hospital for a post mortem.

“Furniture, mattresses and other household articles were on fire,” a fire and rescue forces officer said.

“We are investigating the LPG leak. The gas tube and regulator appear to have been in good condition.” said a police officer investigating the case.

The house did not have proper ventilation, allowing the fire to spread fast, he added.
