Telugu Desam all set to pull out from NDA, to take final call today
VIJAYAWADA: The Telugu Desam is all set to pull out of its alliance with the BJP-led NDA. The TD politburo is to meet on Friday to make a formal announcement on the break-up, the TD sources said, and added that there was a conspiracy against the TD by a united anti-TD forces. In the teleconference held on Thursday, all TD leaders expressed their support in the decision of pulling out from the BJP-led NDA immediately as the continuance of the alliance would have a drastic negative impact on the TD.
The TD which pulled out of the NDA government on March 7, had set the stage to break its al-liance with the BJP within nine days. It is learnt from sources within the TD, that the party leadership strongly suspects the hand of the BJP behind the criticism of TD by the Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan in his party Formation Day programme. Mr Naidu said this in the teleconference held on Thursday morning and in the Assembly.
After elaborate discussions on the break-up of the alliance, it has made its final decision. Mr Naidu considered the opinions of MPs, ministers, MLAs, MLCs, state office-bearers and district party presidents, and in the teleconference, Mr Naidu expressed his thought about PM Modi being behind Jana Sena’s action. Mr Naidu also lambasted the BJP saying that it was using foul politics by putting up the Jana Sena and YSRC as shields and said that the BJP’s real attitude could be understood from this.
The Chief Minister also made critical comments that there existed an anti-Modi and anti-BJP trend among the public in the country, and the UP-Bihar byelection results were evidential proof of this. Mr Naidu said that it was because of BJP’s resistance against the TD’s fight for special status that had made Pawan Kalyan read such a speech, which seemed scripted by the Centre.
With this the TD leaders expressed their opinion of breaking alliance with the BJP immediately, and in this regard, Mr Naidu has decided to bring together a meeting of the TD politburo and finalise the decision on break-up. A senior minister said, “The politburo meet will be held on the single agenda of alliance break-up, and we have come to a decision that there isn’t any benefit in continuing the alliance and we will announce the break-up decision after the meeting.”
