Navigation gets easy with BBMP launching Digital Door Number
BENGALURU: Travelling in the city and reaching your destination has got much easier with the BBMP taking the credit of being the only city in the country to launch 'DiGi7' using which it has provided digital door numbers to every single property. With this, the conventional address for a property will be replaced by digital door numbers.
The digital addressing system will have underlying GPS coordinates for each property which will get a 7 digit Digital Address. Property owners can use the digital number to identify a property and navigate to that property.
Launching the service on Thursday, Bengaluru development minister K,J, George said, "With digital numbers, it will be easy for the civic body to work while receiving requests from citizens for sanction of building plans, utility services or while dealing with grievances."
Citizens can get their digital IDs by sending an SMS or just by calling the BBMP call centre and informing their Property Identification Number (PID). They can also get if by downloading the DiGi7 mobile app and can also share their property location with others via SMS, WhatsApp etc. The BBMP officials are confident that unlike other existing map facilities which stop some meters away from the exact location, the one shared via DiGi 7 will take one directly to the doorstep of the property owner.
