Karnataka Budget: Social media goes gaga
Bengaluru: The 2017-2018 state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday elicited a positive response from the people of the city on social media. Most of them were elated that VAT was going to be removed on beer, wine etc, and that movie ticket prices would be capped.
Among the best tweets concerning the budget, Aayush Rathi made himself quite clear by saying, “How to win elections in a state with majority of engineers? Make their basic needs cheaper i.e., Alcohol and Movie Shows.”
The religious ones too were excited with Conrad Berrreto insisted, “VAT on liquor, beer, wine, feni lifted. Additional excise on liquor abolished. Can't wait for lent to get over,” he tweeted.
Hardik Panchal and Rajesh Balasubramaniam obviously were happy over the cap on movie ticket prices, but insisted that popcorn prices needed to be regulated as well! “First time I need to applaud our CM, should have capped overpriced popcorn also,” said Balasubramanian on Twitter. Panchal was quite blunt saying, “Rs. 200 ticket is awesome, but please regulate popcorn prices.”
Even the civic evangelists were not far behind with Soumya Reddy’s Facebook post screaming, “#Karnatakabudget #JanaparaBudget BMTC to induct 3000 more buses.” The social activist was praising CM Siddaramaiah’s effort to improve public transport in Bengaluru.
Mamatha Nerlige was quite vocal about her views posting them on Facebook. “A Kick-ass #JanaparaBudget to check, hard to wait Karnataka strong inclusive progressive #JanaparaBudget 2017 @CMofKarnataka,” her post said.
