Thol Thirumavalavan to stage protest seeking law against honour killing

He blamed the state government's complacency for the incident.

Chennai: VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan will lead a protest in the city on March 18 demanding a law to prevent honour killing in the state.

Thirumavalavan in an announcement on Tuesday, said the protesters would condemn the brutal murder of Dalit engineering student Shankar, hacked to death for marrying a higher caste girl. He said the ‘arrogant killings’ against inter-caste marriages are rising in the state and cited the murder of Dalit youth Gokulraj in Namakkal. He blamed the state government’s complacency for the incident. He also appealed to all democratic forces to take part in the protest in large numbers.
