Sting video on TMC leaders should be examined: Left Front
Kolkata: Terming the sting operation on Trinamool Congress leaders as "shameful and unprecedented", the Left Front on Wednesday demanded that the video be examined and action taken if the leaders were proven guilty of accepting bribe.
"We have a very simple demand. Let the video be examined and verified. If the video is proved to be right, action should be taken against those who are seen to be taking bribes. And if the video is proved wrong, action should be taken against those who made the false video," LF chairman Biman Bose said.
"Such kind of incident is shameful and unprecedented in the parliamentary history of Bengal," he said.
The opposition parties had demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the CPI-M sought President's rule in the poll-bound state in the wake of the sensational sting operation.
The TMC accused the opposition parties of hatching a "political conspiracy" ahead of the Assembly election and dubbed the sting operation by a news portal as "manufactured".
