Rain brings respite to Bengaluru city, more showers likely

Bengaluru: Sudden showers across the city brought relief to the Bengalureans, who were reeling in the heat wave. Rains lashed the city at various places from evening till late night.

According to the Meteorological Department, the city received around 12.8 mm of rainfall, while areas around the HAL airport received 75.4 mm of rainfall. However, Yelahanka and surrounding areas witnessed nil rainfall, officials added. Bangalore International Airport received traces of rain post 5.30 pm in the evening.

The surprise shower evoked cheer among the residents, many of whom were seen outdoors, and also brought down the temperature in the evening.

The maximum temperature recorded for Tuesday was 33.4 degree Celsius and minimum was 22.4 degrees. According to the city’s weather department it would be partly cloudy for the twenty-four hours and rain and thundershowers are likely.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 and 24 degree Celsius respectively,” a weather department official said.

According to the weather report, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka. However dry weather is likely to prevail over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.
