Mahabharatham' to chase Hindu votes
KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode is all set to witness ‘Mahabharatham’ a religious meet of pro-Sangh Hindu organisations on April 6. Prominent religious leaders, including Sri Sri Ravi Shanker, Baba Ramdev and Praveen Togadia, the fire brand Viswa Hindu Parishad leader, are expected to attend the meet, according to Swami Chidanandapuri, chief of Advaiathashram, Kolathur here.
SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappalli Natesan, former Yogakshema Sabha leader Akkeeraman Kalidasa Bhattathirippad and BJP leader Sasikala teacher are the members of the advisory body.
Over two lakh volunteers from the northern districts are expected to participate in the programme. Various Hindu organisations and institutions, including Art of Living, Mata Amritananda Mayi math, Sree Ramakrishna Mission and Chinmaya Mission would participate in the sangamam, claimed the organisers.
A massive campaign focusing on the dwindling Hindu population due to conversions and the challenges faced by Hindu dharma has already been launched.
The pamphlet of the programme warns Hindus against the attempts to divide the community as dalits and savarna (elites). The politics of Hindu consolidation raised by the BJP and the RSS is yet to make any impact on the Malabar region where the BJP hopes to win one or two seats in Kasargod district. Sources said that the move aims at getting pro-Hindu votes of wavering cadres and workers of other parties in the BJP kitty.
The organisers hope that the programme being held ahead of the elections would ensure political dividends for the BJP as major Hindu leaders, scholars, organisations and religious personalities would come together on a single platform.
