Coimbatore: Two days after the shocking honour killing of a Dalit engineering student who married an upper caste girl, a special police team on Tuesday arrested the girl’s father and five of his friends from Dindigul district who had allegedly masterminded and committed the daring murder in broad daylight last Sunday
Shankar was hacked to death on Sunday afternoon near the bus stand at Udumalpet. His wife, Kausalya, who was also attacked by the killers, had blamed her father, mother, grandmother and uncle for the brutal murder. Kausalya’s father 48-year-old Chinnasamy had surrendered in Nilakottai court on Monday evening where the Magistrate remanded him to 15 days judicial custody.
He has been lodged in Madurai central jail.
Meanwhile, with the information given by Chinnasamy and with the help of CCTV camera footage of the brutal murder, the special police squad arrested 5 killers near Dindigul early Tuesday morning.
