8,180 students write exams in their own mother tongue
More than 10 lakh students are taking the exams from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in 3,369 centres.
Chennai: In all, 8,180 students wrote class 10 language first paper exam in their own mother tongue including Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Urdu. As per the court order, they were exempted from appearing for the compulsory Tamil exam. Over 4,000 government school students from the bordering districts also sought exemption from the compulsory Tamil exam.
Many students found the Tamil first paper relatively easy. However, 9 private candidates were found involved in malpractices. The directorate of government examinations has said in a release that the Tamil first paper exam was largely incident free. More than 10 lakh students are taking the exams from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in 3,369 centres.
